Top Recovery Tips

I’m sure many of you have heard or been told to “listen to your body” but what does that mean?

Our bodies usually know when we need to rest. But if you are like me, we can ignore these signals. It might be that we feel that niggle in our knee, we are feeling depressed, or we cannot get up to the alarm no matter how many times we press snooze.

Sometimes, there may be no warnings that you need rest, but we must make time for it.

Ways to recover:

  •  Sleep: getting enough quality sleep is essential. At least 6 hours of sleep per day (even better if you can get 8 but I’m aware many of us have busy schedules and this is not always possible).

  • Active recovering: sometimes we are so achy even resting on the sofa is not comfortable. You can actually recover by going for a slow enjoyable walk to stretch the legs out or do some foam rolling to increase blood flow or some light stretches.

  • Hydration: drinking water helps reduce inflammation, increases blood flow and removes toxins & waste products from the body. Staying hydrated will also help regulate temperature and pH balance.

  • Ice bath:

  • Massage:

  • Fuel: ensure you are getting enough protein.
